Nigerian Correctional Service
The attention of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Lagos State Command, has been drawn to a mischievous online publication where issue of unlawful release of a convicted inmate, Anthony Okpala, was alleged.
The NCoS Lagos Command vehemently refutes this false and malicious assertion.
Okpala is currently serving his sentence at Medium Security Custodial Centre Kirikiri. He is in safe custody and all the allegations are absolutely untrue.
A simple enquiry from the Command would have ascertained the inmate's status, rather than the purveyor of this fake news chosen to propagate sensational falsehood with the sole aim of casting the NCoS in bad light.
The Command reserves the right to take appropriate legal action in this regard.
The Controller of Corrections, Lagos Command, advises that journalist should always contact the Service for clarification on emergent issues before publication.
Accordingly, the general public should disregard the said fake publication.
